For outdoor sports enthusiasts, the opportunities never end. You can bike or hike through the miles of trails in nearby Peninsula State Park, golf at one of the areas many beautiful golf courses, take to the waters in a rented sailboat, fishing boat, or swim at one of the numerous beaches. Woods, trails, and water surround you beckoning to be used in every season. For those seeking a more relaxed pace, Door County is famous for its art galleries, antiques, and immense variety of specialty shops and restaurants. Door County host several races and challenges, the Peninsula Plus ½ Marathon May 5th and the Door County Triathlon and ½ Iron Man race on July 21 and 22. There is also the Door County Century Ride offers cyclists 100 mile ride, Sep. 9.
Events
Door County has many festivals and events. In Egg Harbor we have Independence Day Fireworks on the 3rd of July and a 4th of July Parade with a Brat fry in Harborview Park. There are Concerts in the Park every Thursday afternoon during July and August.
The village hosts the biggest festival of the year, Pumpkin Patch Festival on Columbus Day weekend in October. We also host the Holly Days Festival Thanksgiving weekend to kick off the Holiday Season.
You haven’t lived until you’ve experienced the Egg Harbor New Years Day Parade, which follows the Jacksonport Polar Bear Plunge. Escape your every-day routine and join us for fun and festivals.
Entertainment
Cultural opportunities begin in earnest once the sun goes down. If your soul pleads for music, the nationally-acclaimed Birch Creek Music Center offers regular jazz and classical concerts, while the Peninsula Music Festival annually offers orchestral music. If the theatre is your pleasure, watch a play beneath the stars at Peninsula State Park, given by the American Folklore Theatre.
There is also a theatre-in-a-garden along the shore of Green Bay where you can watch the sun set and enjoy a production by the Peninsula Players, the oldest summer stock theatre in the USA.
